The RM-E22 regional road linking Cartagena with Isla Plana and La Azohía has been closed at kilometre 9.8, in the Cuestas del Cedacero in Cartagena, after a retaining wall collapsed and part of the roadway fell away in spectacular fashion due to heavy rain.

Luckily, no one was reported injured in the dramatic incident. Emergency work to repair the road as soon as possible have already been announced by the Regional government.

Police and the Cartagena Town Hall are recommending that drivers use the old national road 332 via Cuesta Blanca and Tallante as an alternative route to Isla Plana, El Campillo and La Azohía.

Meanwhile, there are more road closures on the T-561 road to Baños de Mula, which has been cut off due to the risk of landslides, and the RM-F33 road to El Mojón in San Pedro del Pinatar.
