March 9 to 19 Fiestas de San José in Puerto de Mazarron
Music, fun for children and the traditional Falla and procession in Puerto de Mazarrón
The annual Fiestas in honour of San José in Puerto de Mazarrón are being held from March 9 to 19 with a full program including concerts, a fairground, the procession on the feast day of the saint and a tapas route.
The main focal point of the fiestas is Tuesday March 19, the feast day of San José (and Fathers’ Day in Spain), and on the previous evening a large “falla” (papier mâché figure) will be ceremonially burnt at the fairground at the beach of El Rihuete at 23.00.
The marquee at the Playa del Rihuete will also be hosting fairground attractions, while the tapas route lasts from March 9 to 19.
The full program of events includes the following:
Sunday March 10
11.30 to 14.00 and 16.00 to 18.00h: Drilo Park, inflatables and workshops for kiddies, free of charge).
20.00: Opening speech by Leonor María Alonso García.
Friday March 15
22.00: Free concert by Juanlu Montoya.
Saturday March 16
22.00: Siempre Disco Remember, an evening of music from the 70s to the Noughties with DJ Jorge Plane.
Sunday March 17
12.00: El Musical de la Granja with Bartolito, children’s entertainment.
17.00: Music from Los Luisos and local DJs.
Monday March 18
22.00: Orquesta La Mundial live in concert.
23.45: The ceremonial burning of the Falla.
Tuesday March 19
10.30: The procession of the figure of San José in the streets of Puerto de Mazarrñon.
16.30: Music from Six Seven and local DJs.
