WATCH: 50 illegal immigrants reach Cartagena beach
The landing is the third of its kind on the Cartagena coast in just over a week

Another inflatable boat carrying around fifty irregular immigrants landed early Wednesday morning, August 26, in the Calblanque Regional Park in Cartagena.
The vessel arrived at Cala de los Dentoles, also known as Cala Dorada, located between Cala Reona and Calblanque beach, at 7.36am, after witnesses alerted the Region of Murcia's 112 Emergency Coordination Centre.
The Guardia Civil had already detected the boat, suspected of carrying irregular migrants, and had been tracking its route before activating a device to intercept those on board. The Government Delegation said the occupants would be handed over to the National Police.
This is the third landing of its kind on the Cartagena coast in just over a week. On August 19, a speedboat dropped off 62 people at Cala del Barco, in Cabo Tiñoso, in an arrival witnessed and filmed by beachgoers. Then on August 22, another boat reached Cala Dentoles with 49 people on board, including nine minors.
The string of arrivals has reignited political debate around surveillance of the Murcian coastline. Regional president Fernando López Miras sent a letter to President of the Spanish Government Pedro Sánchez this week demanding urgent reinforcement of Guardia Civil personnel along with additional maritime and technological resources.
Cartagena's mayor, Noelia Arroyo, has also called on central government to boost surveillance and resources for state security forces.
"Another speedboat carrying migrants arrived this morning on the Region's coast with complete impunity," Mr López Miras wrote on social media on Wednesday morning.
"Given the seriousness of the situation, the Governing Council will meet tomorrow in Cartagena. The dereliction of duty by the Spanish Government is unacceptable, it cannot be that the Guardia Civil continues without the resources to stop the mafias. We demand control of our coastline, this has to end now."
He said he was still waiting for a response from Pedro Sánchez.
The Government Delegate in Murcia, Francisco Lucas, pushed back on that assessment, accusing López Miras of creating unnecessary social alarm. He also pointed to the reinforcement of the Guardia Civil's Maritime Service with a vessel that has now arrived in Cartagena.
However, the Unified Association of Civil Guards (AUGC) says the usual fast patrol boat is out of action, and that the replacement vessel sent doesn't have the capability needed to intercept the faster boats used by trafficking networks.
