Muddy rain before temperatures soar: Spain weekend weather forecast June 12-15
A calima haze will engulf most of southern Spain before the mercury shoots back into the 40s this weekend

A hazy start to the week is setting the stage for another shift in Spain's weather. After a spell of unsettled conditions that brought storms and lots of the dreaded muddy rain earlier in the week, things are gradually beginning to settle.
The recent DANA stirred up the atmosphere and carried a thick calima haze across much of mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, but now the pattern is starting to change again.
From Thursday June 12, the weather will begin to stabilise. Skies will start to clear and temperatures will steadily rise. The haze will retreat towards the Mediterranean coast, where it is expected to linger into the weekend.

Weather outlook on Thursday June 12
The highest concentrations of Saharan dust will be found in areas such as Melilla, eastern Andalucía, Castilla-La Mancha, Murcia, the Valencian Community and Catalonia. Other regions, including Aragon and the interior of Andalucía, may still notice traces of it, although conditions will begin to improve from the evening.
As the atmosphere settles and the haze lifts in many places, the heat will begin to build and Friday June 13 will bring a noticeable jump in temperatures.

Weather outlook on Friday June 13
Areas including Extremadura, Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha and inland parts of Valencia and Murcia will see highs well above 30ºC. In the Ebro and Guadalquivir valleys, temperatures could climb into the mid-thirties.
Heading into the weekend, the heat will become even more intense. Saturday June 14 will bring very warm weather to the centre, south and east of the country. In contrast, parts of the north, particularly along the Cantabrian coast, will experience cooler conditions with some rainfall and a refreshing northerly breeze.

Average temperatures expected on Saturday June 14
On Sunday June 15, temperatures may dip slightly in some Mediterranean areas, but will continue to rise in many parts of the interior and towards the Atlantic.
The hottest conditions will be felt in the southwest. Extremadura, southern parts of Madrid, western Castilla-La Mancha, inland Murcia and much of Andalucía will be among the warmest regions. In the Guadalquivir Valley, the mercury could approach 40ºC again by Sunday.

Average temperatures expected on Sunday June 15
By the beginning of next week, temperatures are expected to reach or even exceed the forty degree mark in several areas.
Unfortunately, the nights will offer little relief. Much of Spain will experience very warm evenings, particularly in Andalucía, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, Murcia and coastal areas of the Valencian Community and Catalonia. Tropical nights, where the temperature remains above 20ºC, are expected in these regions, as well as in the Balearic Islands and parts of the Canary Islands.
