Valencian Community remains on red alert: Alicante weather forecast Oct 31-Nov 3
With more than 90 lives lost in the devastation, the Valencian Community can expect more intense storms over the weekend
Weather outlook on Saturday November 2
The entire country is reeling after one of the worst natural disasters in a century claimed more than 92 lives in the Valencian Community, with dozens of people still unaccounted for. Out of respect for the victims and their families, the Spanish government has declared three days of national mourning, so most of the Halloween and All Saints’ Days parties and events organised by the town halls have been suspended.
Although the worst of the storms were recorded on Tuesday October 29, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has stressed the unpredictable nature of DANAs and the difficulty of accurately mapping the path of these kinds of weather fronts. As a result, two of the three provinces in the Community, Valencia and Castellón, remain on high alert for heavy rain, dangerous sea conditions and torrential storms throughout the weekend.
Alicante, on the other hand, has managed to avoid the brunt and the weather will remain relatively calm and stable over the coming long weekend.

Thursday October 31
Alicante
Thursday will be quite cloudy in Alicante with occasional stormy intervals and showers forecast in the far north of the province, without ruling out that the rain could spread further south. No changes are expected temperature-wise.
Valencian Community
In the rest of the region, more strong thunderstorms are expected in Castellón and along the coast of Valencia, spreading inland in a less intense way.
A red alert for storms remains active in Castellón until noon while in Valencia a yellow warning is in place.
Friday November 1
Alicante
The weather forecast for All Saints’ Day is almost identical to Thursday, although the rain warning in the north of the province has been upgraded to yellow from the early hours of the morning until around noon. Temperatures will remain in the low 20s for the most part and it may feel more blustery along the coast thanks to a moderate northeasterly wind.
Valencian Community
Heavy showers and thunderstorms are again expected in Castellón and in parts of the Valencia coast, where weather warnings remain active until midday, although these have been downgraded from orange to yellow.
Saturday November 2
Alicante
Another dull and gloomy day for most of Alicante. Showers and stormy downpours will be confined to the north of the province in the morning but there’s a good chance the rain will extend to the south and coastal areas during the afternoon.
Valencian Community
Thankfully there are no adverse weather alerts on Saturday but the heavy rain and storms will persist in Castellón and in large parts of Valencia, which could be locally strong or spread further in a weaker and more dispersed form.
Sunday November 3
Alicante
The showers and thunderstorms battering the rest of the community will likely extend to all of Alicante province on Sunday, although they’ll be must weaker and more dispersed. Temperatures will hover around the 22ºC-mark.
Valencian Community
While no weather warnings have been issued yet for Sunday, Aemet cautions that this could still change depending on the path of the storm. For the moment, we can expect more widespread rain and thundery downpours with strong northeasterly winds along the coast.
