ARCHIVED - Until October 26 Fascinating exhibition in Lorca showing how European migrants helped shape the Region of Murcia
Huellas de la Europeización en la Región de Murcia at the Centro Cultural de Lorca includes the story of Pedro Mouliaá de Chardie, who settled in Lorca in the 18th century
An itinerant exhibition entitled “Huellas de la Europeización en la Región de Murcia”, tracing the ways in which immigrants influenced the Region of Murcia in the past, is visiting the auditorium of Águilas from July 15 to August 26.
The exhibition traces 12 families who migrated to Murcia from different parts of Europe and how they left an impression on the municipalities in which they settled: in the case of Lorca, the story told is that of Pedro Mouliaá de Chardie.
Mouliaá de Chardie (1751 – 1821) was Frenchman who settled in Lorca and was patriarch of a family which produced three Mayors of the city
“Huellas de la Europeización en la Región de Murcia” is visiting six venues this summer, and reaches Lorca after ports of call in Águilas, Cartagena and Mazarrón before moving on to Cieza and Murcia. The other subjects apart from Gustavo Gillman are Bernard Haslip Bruntob (Cieza), Gustave Gillman (Águilas), Hans Nonnast (Mazarrón), Juan Federico Holzawarth, Manuel Massotti, Hugo Dahlberg and the Smilg family (Murcia) and Karl Fricke and the Rolandi, Spottorno and Braquehais families in Cartagena.
The exhibition can be seen at the Centro Cultural in Lorca on weekdays from 8.00 to 21.00 and on Saturdays from 9.00 to 14.00.
