May 4 Entre Tangos, Fandangos y Zarzuelas at the Centro Cultural in Mazarron
A journey through the history of the three genres with Paola Requena and Isabel Martínez, the Carmesí Duo
This latest event in the Crescendo Mazarrón season for 2024 features the Carmesí Guitar Dúo with Paola Requena and Isabel Martínez performing “Entre Tangos, Fandangos y Zarzuelas”, a selection of traditional Spanish dance and light opera music.
On the program are pieces composed by Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805), Manuel M. Ponce (1882-1948), George Bizet (1838-1875), Manuel de Falla (1876-1946), Enrique Granados (1867-1916), Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) and Gerónimo Giménez (1854-1923), providing a historical overview of the genres has won prizes at various international music competitions including the Certamen Internacional Andrés Segovia in 2008, and graduated from the École Normale de Musique de París and the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Alicante. She often plays in Paris, Brussels and Vienna and has also toured in Algeria, Italy and the Czech Republic as well as appearing on Spanish televised concerts.
Classical guitarist Isabel Martínez, meanwhile, is regularly invited to play at the Milton Court-Barbican Centre in London, the ADDA in Alicante, the Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica and the Hangzhou Grand Theater in China, having studied in Alicante and London.
Their concert at the Centro Cultural in Mazarrón on May 4 begins at 20.00.
