Click HereWork has been completed in Puerto de Mazarrón on the improvement of the road which leads up to the lighthouse, a popular destination among visitors seeking out some of the finest views over the bay and the town.
The main aspect of the work has consisted of the construction of a large reinforced concrete wall designed to prevent any further landslides on the hill, and the only remaining task is to re-paint the road surface and install new signposting on the stretch of the Cuesta del Faro Manuel Acosta alongside the Altius and Finis buildings. This is the area where a previous landslip affected various homes as well as obstructing road traffic.
Visiting the site on Monday, Ginés Campillo, the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Infrastructures in the Town Hall of Mazarrón, highlighted the technical complexity of the work carried out on such a steep hill and so close to residential buildings. As a result of these factors, and with some properties below the level of the road, the containing wall reaches a height of 7 metres in places, while at the same time pavements are now in place on both sides of the tarmac.
