How to get up to 18,000 euros off when remodelling your bathroom or kitchen in Murcia
You can get up to 80% of the costs reimbursed when redoing your kitchen or bathroom to make it accessible for disabled people
The Region of Murcia’s government has decreed that homeowners can get up to 18,000 euros off for extensions to bathrooms and kitchens and refurbishing work to make them disabled-friendly.
This is possible via the accessibility grant, and covers such work as the installation of elevators, stair lifts, electric cranes, home automation and even visual and auditory video door phones.
To date, the regional authorities have granted a total of 117,000 euros with this grant to improve accessibility in buildings and homes, mainly to those homes where people over 65 years old and people with disabilities live.
How much money can you get off a kitchen or bathroom remodelling?
Financial aid is available of up to a maximum of 12,500 euros for single-family houses or 6,000 for those located in residential buildings.
If the applicant has an officially registered degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%, the amount will be increased to 18,000 euros.
A maximum of 60% of the cost of the work may be subsidised with this grant, or 80% when at least one disabled person or person over 65 years of age resides in the dwelling.
What are the requirements to be eligible?
The aid money is available only for buildings built before 2006. The home must also be the applicant’s full-time home and not just a holiday home.
In this call, all expenses arising from the installation of technological systems and reforms that improve the safety and quality of life of the residents will be eligible, including the fees of the professionals involved, as well as the costs derived from the drafting of projects and technical reports.
For rented homes, tenants looking to carry out such work must seek the permission of the property owners and if the work is to be carried out in common areas of a building or urbanisation it must be authorised beforehand by the community of owners.
How to apply
The application form may be submitted electronically until March 1, 2024, through the website of the Autonomous Community (in Spanish) or in person accompanied by the corresponding supporting documentation.
Applications made after March 1, 2024 will not be considered, and any applications made after the allotted total amount of 7.2 million euros has been allocated will also not be granted.
