Have your say on how the Orihuela Costa budgets should be spent

After almost six years without any clear direction, Orihuela finally approved a municipal budget of 140 million euros this spring. For the oft neglected residents of the Orihuela Costa, certain urgent projects like sewage works and a pedestrian bridge for Lomas de Cabo Roig were given priority by the government, although few inroads appear to have been made since.

However, the list of issues and needs along the coast is a long one, and the Cabo Roig and Lomas Neighbourhood Association is very doubtful that the council will manage to get to everything before the year is out.

For this reason, the group has developed a survey, inviting local residents to identify which items on the budget they believe should be given priority. This information will then be passed on to the powers that be, who will hopefully take the opinions of locals into account.

Among the items budgeted for on the Orihuela Costa during 2024 are new jet skies for the Local Police beach patrols (30,000 euros), the resurfacing of some roads (5,499 euros), accessible beach equipment in Punta Prima (250,000 euros) and a new civic centre (149,440 euros).
