Cartagena sails into summer with 15,000 cruise passengers on the docket
Eleven liners will cruise into the Cartagena port this month, one of which is a luxury ship

The cruise tourism season has started with a bang in Cartagena, with each month bringing progressively more visitors to the Murcia coastal municipality, but June looks set to beat the band with no fewer than 15,000 passengers expected to dock from eleven ships.
This influx of maritime holidaymakers means a huge "boost for the destination as a key port in the Mediterranean," according to sources from the Cartagena Port Authority. The first cruises that will disembark in June will do so on a double whammy tomorrow (June 2), with the arrival of ships Silver Moon and Scenic Eclipse 2.
On Saturday June 2, the cruise ship Arvia will make its first stop in the city with 1,762 crew members and 5,200 tourists, all of whom will spend their time – and money – in the locality.
Measuring an incredible 344 metres in length, the impressive Arvira has 20 decks and 2,614 cabins and is powered by liquefied natural gas, one of the only cruise ships that has opted for this more environmentally-friendly fuel source.
Just a couple of days after this historic docking, the Azamara Journey, carrying 702 passengers, will land in Cartagena o n June 5, quickly followed by the 900 tourists aboard the Viking Mars on June 8.
On June 15, a new double stopover of cruises is scheduled with the AidaStella and the Star Pride. The AidaStella will call again on June 25.
On June 17 and 19 it will be the turn of the Spirit of Discovery cruise ship and the Marella Discovery 2, with capacity for 1,000 and 1,836 passengers, respectively.
The Seabourn Sojourn cruise liner will dock on June 24 to complete the liner forecast for the month. This last vessel considers itself a luxury cruise with 450 tourists and exquisite service, with one crew member per passenger, and unique and fully personalised experiences.
