Camposol Walking Football Club hosts successful 2025 tournament
The Copa Mazarrón 2025 international tournament was a roaring success

Camposol Walking Football Club recently hosted its second annual international tournament, Copa Mazarrón 2025, at the sports complex in Mazarrón. The two-day event featured competitive matches in both the over 60s and over 50s categories, attracting teams from Spain and the UK.
The tournament kicked off on Tuesday March 11 with the over 60s category. Six teams took part, including Nottingham Forest Veterans, Widnes and Wolverhampton Walking Football Foundation all travelling over from the UK. Representing Spain were Real Calahonda from Granada, FC Los Amigos de Turre from Almería and the hosts, Camposol Walking Football Club.
A total of 18 matches were played, culminating in Nottingham Forest Veterans emerging as overall champions. Real Calahonda secured second place, while Camposol finished in fourth after losing to FC Los Amigos in the play-offs. Wolverhampton Walking Football Foundation claimed fifth place by defeating Widnes. The trophies and medals were presented to the winners and runners-up by Mazarrón Councillor for Camposol, Carmen Navarro Paredes.

Then, on Wednesday March 12, the over 50s teams took to the field with eleven squads competing for the title. Wolverhampton Walking Football Foundation represented England, while St James from Dundee flew the flag for Scotland.
The Costa Blanca had strong representation with Portobello from Campoverde, The Hub from Orihuela, Esquina Park Rangers from Rojales, CF La Romana and The Orange Bar from San Miguel de Salinas. Cantoria represented Almería, while Murcia fielded teams from Condado, Red Lion Fortuna and, of course, the hosts, Camposol Walking Football Club.
Over the course of 30 matches, Wolverhampton Walking Football Foundation secured victory by defeating Portobello in the final. CF La Romana edged out The Hub for third place.

At the closing ceremony, Paul Cassidy, President of Camposol Walking Football Club, expressed his gratitude to Mazarrón Council for their support in providing the facilities and sponsorship of trophies and medals. He also extended his thanks to the Costa Blanca Referees’ Group for their excellent officiating, Futbol Inclusivo for running the canteen, Cruz Roja for being on standby for medical assistance and the many volunteers who helped ensure the smooth running of the tournaments.

Looking ahead, Camposol Walking Football Club has already begun preparations for next year’s tournament, which is scheduled to take place in April 2026. With a strong foundation and growing interest, the event is expected to attract even more teams, further cementing its reputation as a key fixture in the Spanish and international walking football calendar.
