Click HereIn the first quarter of next year the Guadalentín health area within the Region of Murcia will have a new private hospital complex offering A&E 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, according to the group behind the project Mederi Salud.
Mederi Salud are anticipating an early completion of the construction work, which is costing around 11 million euros to create a floor area of 2,500 square meters. The centre in the Camposol urbanisation in the municipality of Mazarrón will have 38 beds, three operating theatres, an endoscopy room and six consultation rooms, in addition to the A&E area.
The strategy of the business group is to offer its medical services to a potential population of 300,000 inhabitants, the catchment area "with easy communication between municipalities in the Region such as Alhama, Totana, Fuente Alamo, Librilla, Lorca, Águilas and Cartagena ", although Mederi Salud add that "the healthcare radius of the towns in the northwest of the province of Almeria, like Vera, Palomares, Garrucha or San Juan de los Terreros will also be covered”.
It is reported in regional newspaper “La Verdad” that during a visit to the construction site on September 19 the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, commented on the positive economic impact that these facilities located in Camposol will have. However, for residents in the area the benefits are more likely to be in terms of quicker and easier access to emergency medical attention.
The engineer responsible for facilities and works of the future Mederi Guadalentín hospital, José Manuel Hernández, stressed on Tuesday that "it is a compact, accessible centre, which will have all the equipment and services of the latest medical and surgical equipment, but in a more contained space". Regarding the possible early opening of the hospital, he adds that they are now entering "the final phase of works, in which it will be necessary to provide the hospital with the necessary equipment and specific furniture in all areas, which is expected to start during the first three months of next year. "
It is thought that the new hospital will generate 80 direct jobs and another 250 or so indirectly.
The hospital complex will offer over 20 medical and surgical specialties (including General Medicine, Surgery, Emergency, Cardiology, Pneumology, Gynaecology, Dermatology, Pediatrics and Geriatrics and Traumatology), with an initial team formed by more than 80 professionals from medicine, nursing, nursing assistants to security guards, administrative and laboratory staff, among others.
The emergencies department will have integrated triage rooms, examination, medical and surgical consultations and nursing, with the aim of "facilitating rapid resolution and attention and, if necessary, hospitalisation". In this sense, the group promoting stress that the existence of a complete latest generation Radiodiagnosis Service with CT, magnetic resonance, conventional X-ray, mammography and ultrasound, "together with a fully equipped laboratory service, will contribute to an accurate diagnosis and with minimum waiting times".
