Andalucía weekly weather forecast September 14-17: Heat warnings persist as summer refuses to let go
Seville and Córdoba stay firmly in the firing line this week, with temperatures holding well into the high thirties
The weekend closed with parts of Andalucía touching the high thirties and the region shows little sign of cooling down just yet. This week keeps the heat warnings active through the early part of the period, with maxes staying in the high thirties right through to Wednesday before a more modest dip on Thursday. Mid-September it may be, but summer is very much still in residence.Monday September 14
Andalucía weather forecast, Monday September 14Generally clear or partly cloudy skies across Andalucía, with cloud building in the inland mountain ranges through the day. The Strait of Gibraltar area sees intervals of low cloud and a slight chance of occasional light rain. Seville carries a heat warning today, reaching 38°C, while Cádiz is under a coastal wind warning, with very strong easterly gusts through the Strait during the first half of the day easing thereafter. Temperatures see little change across most of the region. Winds are light to moderate and variable, turning moderate to strong easterly around the Strait.
Tuesday September 15
Andalucía temperatures, Tuesday September 15The heat warnings spread. Córdoba joins Seville on the alert list, reaching 37°C, with Seville again at 38°C. Skies are generally clear or partly cloudy, with afternoon cloud possible in the mountains and a small chance of light rain there. Low cloud drifts along the Mediterranean coast and around the Strait. Huelva benefits from its Atlantic position, with maximum temperatures along the Gulf of Cádiz coast coming in locally lower. Winds turn westerly along the Atlantic coast from midday, occasionally moderate, with moderate easterlies persisting through the Strait.
Wednesday September 16
Andalucía weather forecast, Wednesday September 16Still warm, with temperatures holding at 37°C across much of the region. Skies are largely clear or partly cloudy, but the eastern interior clouds over in the afternoon, with showers and thunderstorms possible in the mountains. Jaén, sitting in the heart of the interior, could catch some of that activity. Temperatures ease in the western third while holding steady elsewhere. Westerly winds, occasionally moderate, along the Atlantic coast, and light and variable winds elsewhere. Málaga on the Mediterranean side sees little change.
Thursday September 17
Andalucía weather forecast, Thursday September 17The most comfortable day of the period, though comfortable is relative: temperatures drop to a high of 34°C, still warm by most standards but a noticeable step down from the week's peaks. Clear skies across much of Andalucía, with low cloud in the western third through the morning. The eastern interior clouds over again in the afternoon, with showers and thunderstorms possible in the mountains. Granada could see some of that activity late in the day. Winds are light and variable, picking up to moderate intervals and tending westerly on the Atlantic side in the afternoon. Almería stays largely clear.
Thirty-four degrees on Thursday might feel like a reprieve after a week of warnings, but it's still a proper September scorcher by anyone's measure. The heat is easing, slowly, but Andalucía isn't quite ready to call time on summer just yet.
Min and max temperatures in Andalucía this week

- Tuesday September 15: Min 18ºC; Max 37ºC
